Paragraph II of that Part of the Schedule to the Representation Act, dealing with the description of the electoral districts in the province of British Columbia, which describes the electoral district of Nanaimo, is amended by substituting for the word: "NANAIMO", the words: "NANAIMO-COWICHANTHE ISLANDS" at the beginning of said description.

The boundaries are:

NANAIMO consisting of that part of Vancouver Island bounded on the north and west by the following line: commencing at a point on the centre line of the Strait of Georgia due west of Prospect Point Lighthouse; thence northerly along the centre line of said Strait of Georgia to a point due east of the southerly tip of Lasqueti Island; thence southwesterly to the mouth of Englishman River; thence upstream along the centre line of said Englishman River to the north boundary of Dunsmuir Land District; thence westerly along the north boundary of Dunsmuir Land District to the northwest corner thereof; thence southerly along the westerly boundary of said Dunsmuir Land District to the northeasterly boundary of Barclay Land District; thence southeasterly along the northeasterly boundary of Barclay Land District to Nitinat River; thence southwesterly following the centre line of said Nitinat River and Nitinat Lake to the westerly coast of Vancouver Island; and bounded on the south by the following line; commencing at the middle point of the southerly end of Port San Juan; thence northeasterly along the centre line of said Port San Juan to the mouth of Gordon River; thence easterly along the right bank of the most northerly channel of San Juan River to the main stream of San Juan River; thence upstream along the right bank of the main stream of San Juan River to the mouth of Harris Creek; thence following Harris Creek upstream to the west boundary of Cowichan Lake Land District; thence southeasterly along the southwesterly boundary of said Cowichan Lake Land District to the southwest corner thereof; thence eastward along the south boundary of Cowichan Lake Land District to its southeast corner; thence north along the east boundary of said Cowichan Lake Land District to the northwest corner of Helmcken Land District; thence eastward along the north boundary of Helmcken and Shawnigan Land Districts to Satellite Channel; thence eastward along the centre line of said Satellite Channel to a point due north of Piers Island; thence easterly and south of Portland and Moresby Islands to the International Boundary; together with all the off-shore islands.

Walter Franklyn Matthews (PC) was the sitting member at the time of the constituency's name change.

NANAIMO-COWICHAN-THE ISLANDS consisting of the territory bounded as follows: commencing at the westerly limit of the City of Victoria in the entrance to Victoria Harbour; thence westerly to the northeast corner of lot fifty-three (53), Esquimalt Land District; thence northwesterly along the northerly boundary of said lot to the road running northwesterly between Triangular Hill on the north and Metchosin Mountain on the south and along said road to the road running southerly to Metchosin; thence southerly along said road to Metchosin to the southerly boundary of lot eighty-one (81), Metchosin Land District; thence northwesterly along said southerly boundary and the southerly boundaries of lots ninety-three (93) and ninety-six (96) in said Land District and the south boundary of lot thirty-eight (38) in Goldstream Land District and its projection northwesterly to the Victoria water supply pipeline; thence northerly along said pipeline to Humpback Reservoir; thence northerly along said reservoir to the projection easterly of the southerly boundary of lot five (5) Goldstream Land District; thence westerly along said projection and boundary to the southwesterly corner of said lot five (5); thence northerly along the westerly boundaries of said lot five (5) and lots three (3) and seventy (70) to the northwesterly corner of said lot seventy (70); thence easterly along the north boundary of said lot seventy (70) and its easterly projection to the Goldstream River; thence northerly along the Goldstream River, Finlayson Arm, Squally Reach and Saanich Inlet to Satellite Channel; thence easterly along Satellite Channel, Shute Passage and Prevost Passage to the International Boundary; thence easterly and northerly along said boundary to the Strait of Georgia; thence northwesterly along the Strait of Georgia to a point north of the mouth of the Little Qualicum River; thence south to said mouth and along said river to Cameron Lake; thence westerly along Cameron Lake to the west boundary of Cameron Land District; thence southerly along said west boundary and the west boundary of Dunsmuir Land District to the northeast boundary of Barclay Land District; thence southeasterly along said northeasterly boundary to the southeasterly boundary of said Barclay Land District; thence southwesterly along the southeasterly boundary of said Barclay Land District to the ocean; thence south to the International Boundary; thence easterly along the International Boundary to a point due south of the point of commencement; thence due north to the point of commencement.
