We are currently looking for candidates to staff the following position: Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst.

GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS (GIS) ANALYST

RESEARCH PUBLICATIONS AND VISUALIZATION

Determinate / Acting / Assignment / Secondment position (18 months)

RAN-01 – RAN-03 ($66,960 – $116,235)
Bilingual staffing – imperative: (CBC/CBC)

For the purposes of this selection process, the competencies listed in the attached Competency Profile will be evaluated.

Note: While this position is eligible for part-time telework, regular on-site presence is required at Library of Parliament workplaces located in the National Capital Region

The following knowledge criteria will also be evaluated:

  • Knowledge of cartography and geospatial analysis techniques and best practices 
  • Knowledge of authoritative Canadian and international GIS data sources

To be considered, candidates must have:

  • Master’s degree from a recognized university or an acceptable combination of experience and education
  • Experience producing high-quality maps and geospatial analysis 
  • Experience using ESRI ArcGIS 
  • Experience in analyzing large databases
  • Experience working to meet client needs within short deadlines
  • Experience in the use of various Excel features and functions
  • Experience in developing visual elements (maps, charts and tables) for research documents

Asset(s):

  • Knowledge of other mapping and data visualization software (such as QGIS, Adobe Illustrator and Power BI) and coding languages (such as R and Python)
  • Knowledge of authoritative sources of statistics in various areas relevant to federal policies
  • Knowledge of considerations that can inform the mapping of Indigenous presence

Candidates retained in this selection process will be required to obtain successfully:

  • A second-language evaluation (Bilingual staffing – imperative: CBC/CBC)
  • A pre-employment screening
