The office of Minister of Pensions and National Health was abolished and the offices of Minister of Veterans Affairs and Minister of National Health and Welfare were created by Statute 8 George VI, c. 19, assented to June 30, 1944, and Statute 8 George VI, c. 22, assented to July 24, 1944, respectively, both Acts proclaimed in force October 18, 1944. The French title of this portfolio was changed by Revised Statutes, 1985, c. V-1, in force December 12, 1988.
